About Midwife Lauretta
Hello Lovely ones!
I'm Lauretta, a midwife, birth educator, bodyworker, mum of two girls and a bit of a women's health nerd (okay, a lot!).
Registered Nurse + Midwife - Birth Educator Bodyworker - Women's Health Nerd - Mum of Two
I absolutely adore being a midwife. I love birth in all its forms… the beautiful, the messy, the unpredictable, the powerful and everything in between. After years of working alongside women and families through pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum, I still feel incredibly privileged to do this work.
It might surprise you that as much as I love babies, it's the women I love holding most.
Being there beside a woman as she navigates something enormous. Listening, advocating, explaining, reassuring, laughing together when things get a little ridiculous, and making space for whatever she's feeling.
I love helping women find their voice, understand their options and feel genuinely involved in their care.
Because there's no one right way to birth, and a positive experience doesn't have to look a certain way.
Your body. Your birth. Your choices.
Where birth education comes in
One of my favourite parts of being a midwife is education.
Not just teaching the stages of labour or explaining what might happen in hospital, but helping women and their support people really understand birth.
The physiology, the mindset, the practical, body-based tools, the decisions, the unexpected twists and turns, and how to navigate it all.
I want people leaving my classes thinking, “I understand this. I get to decide. I can do this.”
That's what Your Birth Class is all about.
“I've always loved birth, but it's the women I love holding most. And finding new ways to care for them is what keeps me so passionate about this work.”
And then I discovered bodywork…
And oh my goodness, I fell in love.
The more time I spent working with women, the more curious I became about the body itself. The pelvis, the fascia, the soft tissues, the way we hold tension, and how we experience pregnancy, birth and recovery in our bodies.
I felt like there was a piece missing from the way I'd been taught to care for women.
Not because midwifery wasn't enough, but because I wanted to explore another way of working alongside women — one that involved slowing down, using my hands, listening to their experiences and paying attention to the body as well as the story.
Bodywork felt like the missing piece.
One of the things I love most about having my own little clinic is the opportunity to really nurture women. To slow down, give them my time and attention, listen to what's going on for them and offer gentle, hands-on care that's completely centred around their needs.
There's something pretty special about having that space to care for women in a different way, whether they're pregnant, preparing for birth, finding their feet postpartum or reconnecting with their bodies years down the track.
It's such a privilege to do this work, and I genuinely look forward to every clinic day.
Always learning (because I can't help myself!)
Alongside my ongoing clinical work and continuing professional development as a registered midwife, I've continued to dive deeper into the areas of women's health that light me up.
From Acuneedling™ to pregnancy + labour bodywork, Internal Pelvic Release Work, pelvic biomechanics and anatomy, I've loved exploring new ways of understanding and working with women's bodies.
Through additional training, hands-on learning and mentorship, I've been able to bring together my midwifery knowledge with the bodywork approaches I'm so passionate about.
I'm endlessly curious about women's bodies, pregnancy and birth, and I don't think I'll ever stop learning. There's always more to explore, question and understand, and I genuinely love that part of this work.
What matters most to me
At the heart of everything I do is a pretty simple belief.
Women deserve to feel heard, respected, informed and genuinely supported.
Not rushed. Not dismissed. Not told that something is just part of being pregnant without being given the time to talk about it.
I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring your options and being an active participant in your own care.
Sometimes that looks like preparing for your first birth. Sometimes it's finding your feet after a difficult experience. Sometimes it's simply having someone take the time to listen.
And sometimes we have a really good laugh along the way, too.
Whether you come to me for birth education, Acuneedling™, pregnancy bodywork, pelvic care or scar care, you'll find the same thing at the centre of it all.
A midwife who genuinely loves working with women, loves what she does and believes you deserve care that's about you.
I'd love to welcome you into my little corner of women's health.
