Feel held, heard and supported — not rushed through your pregnancy journey.
Acuneedling with Lauretta is a warm, grounded, and evidence-informed experience designed to support your body and nervous system in pre-conception, pregnancy, birth preparation, and postpartum recovery. As a registered midwife with specialist training in Acuneedling, I work with women seeking holistic, complementary care alongside their standard maternity support.
What is Acuneedling?
Acuneedling™ is a gentle, complementary needling approach informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture principles.
Using fine, sterile, single-use needles at selected points on the body, each treatment is tailored to you, your individual needs and your stage of pregnancy.
As a registered midwife with additional training in Acuneedling™, I bring together my midwifery knowledge and hands-on skills to offer personalised care during pregnancy and beyond.
Depending on your needs, your appointment may also incorporate acupressure or moxibustion.
Why women come to me for Acuneedling
Pregnancy brings so many changes, and sometimes it's lovely to have a little extra support along the way.
Women book Acuneedling™ with me for all sorts of reasons, including:
Pregnancy nausea – exploring complementary options alongside their usual maternity care.
Pregnancy aches and discomfort – seeking individualised care as their body changes.
Preparing for birth – making time for themselves in those final weeks of pregnancy.
Breech positioning – discussing moxibustion and whether it may be appropriate for their circumstances.
Postpartum recovery – taking some dedicated time for care and support after birth.
Whether you're navigating a particular concern or simply wanting some time to slow down, we'll chat about what's happening for you and tailor your appointment accordingly.
My approach brings together my midwifery experience, additional training and a genuine love of supporting women through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
What to Expect
Your session begins with a detailed intake and check-in so I can understand what’s happening for you. We’ll work with specific acupoints, and your session may include acupressure, bodywork, moxibustion, or simply a chance to rest and be nurtured.
You’ll lie back with cosy cushions, and once the needles are in, you’ll rest for 15–20 minutes while they do their work.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Acuneedling™ may be suitable during pregnancy, depending on your individual health and pregnancy circumstances.
As a registered midwife with additional training in Acuneedling™, I consider your health history, stage of pregnancy and any relevant concerns before treatment.
Like other needling techniques, Acuneedling™ carries some risks, including temporary discomfort, bruising, bleeding, dizziness and, less commonly, infection or other complications.
Treatment is always individualised, Acuneedling™ is complementary to, rather than a replacement for, your usual maternity care.
-
Acuneedling uses Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. As a midwife, I am trained specifically within the scope of preconception, pregnancy and postpartum. Dry needling typically involves the use of longer needles to target specific muscles or muscle groups, whereas Acuneedling is based on Traditional chinese medicine, while we can use specific point combinations for muscles, ligaments and pain - it involves the whole body rather than specific areas, and smaller needles.
-
Most people barely feel the needles going in, but some will describe it as a pinch or bruisey sensation – once they're in and doing their thing the sensations should settle so you can fully relax – I always check in and make sure you’re ok as we go as well as going slowly if you’re nervous! Most people find the sessions incredibly relaxing — some even nap once needles are in.
-
There's no one-size-fits-all approach.
Some clients choose a single appointment, while others prefer ongoing sessions throughout pregnancy or in preparation for birth.
We'll discuss your individual needs, preferences and response to treatment before deciding whether further appointments are appropriate.
There is no guaranteed number of sessions or specific birth outcome associated with treatment.
-
No — this is complementary support. It works alongside your OB, midwife or GP care.
-
Not currently. But my Packages offer value if you're seeking ongoing support.
-
We can use acupressure or moxa instead — you’re in control of your session.
-
Yes — partners and babies are welcome. For safety, babies must be in a pram or held securely (e.g. on your chest or in a carrier). I'm happy to work around feeding or cuddling during the session.
